Dr. Zachary Wikerd is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at University at Buffalo. He serves as clinician educator as part of the Hospitalist service at Erie County Medical Centre.

Dr Wikerd started his medical career in Ireland at the Royal College of Surgeons and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Case Western Reserve - MetroHealth. He completed his fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC. His training has provided him with the skill-set to manage the great diversity of illnesses with which patients present, with a focus on applying what matters most to the individual patient.

Dr. Wikerd’s research and interest focuses on resident and student education; health care quality improvement; value-based care; and creating an ‘Age-Friendly Health System’ - a collaboration founded by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and John A. Hartford Foundation.
