DESCRIPTION OF INTERESTS

My clinical and research interests center on the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases. We are interested in the symptomatology of patients with chronic liver disease, particularly with regard to fatigue and other somatic complaints and their relationship to depression. I have participated in phase three trials of novel agents for the treatments of viral hepatitis C.

In addition, I am currently collaborating with investigators at the Research Institute on Addictions here in Buffalo. Our interests involve the epidemiology of hepatitis C in previously understudied populations. We are also interested in risk factors associated with progression of hepatitis C in those populations.
