DESCRIPTION OF INTERESTS

My two main areas of interest are in the fields of fetal cardiovascular medicine and in diabetic pregnancy. In the area of fetal cardiovascular medicine, my interests lie in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease, and in fetal disease which effect the fetal cardiovascular system such as intrauterine growth restriction, diabetes and Rh disease. Research involves the use of Doppler ultrasound for the study of the fetal cardiovascular system in this context. The section of fetal cardiovascular medicine within the division of maternal fetal medicine (Dept. of Gyn-Ob) maintains an active clinical program with the division of pediatric cardiology at children‘s hospital of buffalo. This enables a team approach to the management of perinatal cardiovascular disease from fetal life until early adulthood.

The other area of interest is in the field of diabetic pregnancy. Clinical management of the diabetic pregnancy as well as research into the diagnosis of gestational diabetes and the fetal effects of diabetes are ongoing.
