Dr. Andrew Reynolds is a clinical associate professor with the Department of Ophthalmology at the Ross Eye Institute, University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine. He also serves as the Residency Program Director for the Ophthalmology Residency Program at UB.
He graduated medical school summa cum laude at UB, before completing his residency at the prestigious Storm Eye Institute at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston SC, where he served as chief resident. He then completed his fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the renowned Kellogg Eye Center, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor MI.
His clinical activities span the full range of his fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. His particular expertise is in pediatric anterior segment disorders, chiefly pediatric cataract and pediatric glaucoma and their surgical management. His other area of expertise is the management of complex strabismus, including pediatric and adult strabismus, reoperations for strabismus, thyroid eye disease, and cranial nerve palsies. Dr. Reynolds does also care for select adults outside of strabismus, including ocular trauma and adult cataract surgery.
His research interests mirror his clinical interests, and he has published and presented nationally on anti-VEGF agents in ROP, thyroid eye disease, ophthalmic education, pediatric refractive error and ocular trauma. He has served as site PI for several ROP clinical trials
He has a deep commitment to the training of the future generation of ophthalmologists. He served as the associate program director for the UB ophthalmology residency from 2016-2019 before being promoted to full program director. He has won the Ross Eye Institute Teacher of the Year twice
