Professional Summary:

As a specialist in adult and pediatric care, I practice general primary care for both children and adults. This dual training affords proficiency in treatment of complex chronic disease originating in childhood with continued care in adults. I also provide specialized care for college students at Buffalo State University. I have expertise in treatment of a wide range of health and psychosocial conditions, including eating disorders, medical management of psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety, gynecologic issues, sexual health concerns and HIV preventative services.

My academic interests focus on climate change and health. I am particularly interested in the development of education on this topic in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. I believe physicians play an integral role in combating climate change by educating patients and advocating for policy changes that work to mitigate environmental exposures and improve patient health. My current research pertains to the implementation of a climate change and health curriculum into pediatric residency education.

As a faculty member in internal medicine and pediatrics, I am involved in resident and medical student education. I teach evidence-based medicine and its clinical application, keeping current with journal articles and reviews, using data to modify my clinical practice, when indicated--and encouraging these practices in residents and medical students. I lecture primarily at the monthly medicine-pediatrics conferences. Recent topics include contraception and pre-exposure prophylaxis. I also guest-lecture for other departments. A recent lecture was given in the Department of Biomedical Informatics entitled “Climate Change and Health: Effects on Respiratory Illness and How Data Systems can Help."
