Professional Summary:

Dr. Danielle Goetz is Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the division of Pediatric Pulmonology at UBMD Pediatrics, the University at Buffalo and the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. She directs the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center of Western New York in Buffalo, NY, one of 120 CF Centers in the United States accredited by the CF Foundation, which is responsible for the care of CF patients in Buffalo, NY and surrounding areas. As the CF Center Director, she leads a multi-disciplinary team including a nurse, respiratory therapist, social worker, and dietician, to coordinate the care of CF patients in the center. Her clinical interests focus on CF and other Pediatric Pulmonary diseases, including ciliary dyskinesia and rare lung diseases, as well as common conditions such as chronic cough, wheezing, and asthma. Dr. Goetz's research interests include optimizing care in cystic fibrosis, mental health in cystic fibrosis, and quality improvement to improve outcomes in CF and other pulmonary diseases. Her scholarly activity includes being co-director of the Buffalo site for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Therapeutic Development Network (TDN). She has served as the Buffalo site PI for multiple observational and interventional research trials in CF through the TDN over the past 8 years. Dr. Goetz is also involved in mental health research in CF together with the Buffalo Adult CF Center Director, Dr. Carla Frederick, and the Director of Child Psychiatry in Buffalo, Dr. Beth Smith. Dr. Goetz is currently the physician leader for the Buffalo site for the CF Foundation's Learning Network; a 30 center network in the US. Her team is a multi-disciplinary quality improvement team that includes a CF patient and parent partner as well as other members of the CF care team who meet together to plan and implement projects designed to improve the care of people living with CF. Dr. Goetz is responsible for educating residents and medical students in Pediatric Pulmonology and enjoys collaborating with them and other sites for academic work.
