Professional Summary:

David M. Janicke, MD, PhD is an associate professor of emergency medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Buffalo Jacobs School of Biomedical Sciences. Since 2014, he has been the Director of the Emergency Department at Buffalo General Medical Center (BGMC). He is ABEM board certified in emergency medicine and is an ACEP fellow. He has been a University of Buffalo Emergency Medicine faculty member since the beginning of the EM residency program in 1994.

During his career, he has held positions as ED director, Emergency Medicine Residency and Research Coordinator, physician quality and patient hospital safety officer, Health Sciences Institutional Review Board member, member of the board of directors of emergency medicine groups, and member of the hospital pulmonary embolism response team.

He has a PhD in Pharmaceutics and continues to foster EM research. With over 30 publications, his main focus of research interest are in the areas of cardiology, EM practice, pharmacology, and stroke. He is currently is focused on hospital flow and serves as the associate chair of the BGMC hospital throughput committee.

He feels very fortunate to be a member of the EM university faculty and to have participated in bedside teaching of residents and medical students throughout his career.
