As a Professor of Anesthesiology at the State University of New York at Buffalo, I am passionate about nurturing the next generation of medical practitioners. Teaching is not just a profession but a lifelong journey of learning for me. I firmly believe that medicine is an art rooted in science. For example, I often liken medicine to a carriage, with science as its driving force—the horse. Without a scientific foundation, the progress of medicine stalls. Hence, the term "Physician-Scientist" loses its essence. A lack of enthusiasm for science can gradually reduce even the most skilled physician to a mere technician. My special interest are in academic medicine and active research in the kinetics of inflammatory responses in acute lung injury and myocardial ischemia reperfusion.
