Professional Summary:

Dr. Rosalind Lai is an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurosurgery at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and a neurosurgeon with University at Buffalo Neurosurgery (UBNS). She is dual-trained in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery and is recognized for her clinical expertise and research in vascular diseases of the brain.

Dr. Lai graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School, where she also earned Honors in Neurosurgery before pursuing her residency in Neurological Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital. After residency, she completed a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery with UBNS.

Clinically, Dr. Lai focuses on cerebrovascular conditions including cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and fistulae, carotid artery disease, and both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Her practice also spans general neurosurgical procedures for brain tumors and other complex neurological conditions.

Her research bridges clinical care and scientific discovery with an emphasis on understanding genomic, hormonal, and sex-specific factors in cerebrovascular disease. This work builds on her prior role as Principal Investigator on studies like the Harvard Nurses’ Health Study investigating reproductive risk factors for cerebral aneurysms and is supported by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons Foundation/Cerebrovascular Section Young Investigator Grant, Bee Foundation Grant, and Missy Foundation Grants.
