"Unheard of and ominous": Trump's D.C. homelessness crackdown perplexes advocates

Axios interviewed Elizabeth Bowen about President Trump’s proclaiming that he’s going to crackdown on homeless populations and encampments. Bowen said that clearing encampments is not an effective way to resolve homelessness. "It's not a solution at all to ending homelessness," Bowen said. "The solution is getting people into long term, permanent, affordable, independent, supportive housing." Bowen also pointed out that the Trump administration has proposed gutting aid for permanent supportive housing, which she says is a step in the wrong direction.
